The shared understanding between the two peoples and parliamentary institutions that the European course of Cyprus and the European course of Greece do not constitute two parallel paths but an inextricably common cause, a bedrock of trust and mutual understanding for a just solution to the Cyprus issue, was reaffirmed during the official visit of the President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Ms Annita Demetriou, to Athens and the Hellenic Parliament.

The visit of Ms Annita Demetriou, as well as her address to the Plenary of the Hellenic Parliament before MPs from all parties, took place following an official invitation by the President of the Hellenic Parliament immediately after her re-election to the Presidency of the Cypriot Parliament. It acquires even greater symbolism as it coincides with a highly significant juncture: the conclusion of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union by Cyprus.
