Meeting of Chairman of Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of Hellenic Parliament with Ambassador of Armenia
The Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament, Konstantinos Gioulekas, met today with the Ambassador of Armenia in Greece, Fadey Charchoghlyan.
During the meeting, Mr. Gioulekas referred to the aggressive and provocative actions by Turkey, as well as to the refugee issue, noting that the differences with Turkey are not Greek-Turkish, but Euro-Turkish. He underlined that disputes should be resolved peacefully, through dialogue and guided by International Law.
The Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs then noted that Greece, responding to the request by domestic Armenian organisations and under the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, carried out two humanitarian aid missions, showing practical support and solidarity to the beleaguered population of the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
Ambassador Charchoglyan expressed the deep gratitude of the Armenian people for the support of Greece through humanitarian aid missions and confirmed that Armenia helps and supports Greece in its positions. Lastly, he expressed the wish that the trilateral Greece-Cyprus-Armenia Summit, which had been postponed due to the pandemic, be convened soon.
