Election of MP Dionysia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou to the position of Vice President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)

An important distinction for the Hellenic Parliament is the selection, for the first time, of a Greek Member of Parliament, namely Mrs Dionysia - Theodora Avgerinopoulou, as Vice President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The appointment of Mrs Dionysia - Theodora Avgerinopoulou as Vice President of the Organisation, on behalf of the Geopolitical Group 12+, was decided on Saturday February 24, during the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Geopolitical Group 12+ of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) held in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

It is noted that the number of Vice-Presidents of the IPU is six, one for each Geopolitical Group, as represented in the Organisation. (12+, African Group, Asia-Pacific Group, Arab Group, Eurasia Group, Latin America/Caribbean Group). The post is valid for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
