Participation of Hellenic Parliament in Working Group and Standing Committee of Parliamentary Assembly of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC)

With the participation of the head of the Hellenic delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) Konstantinos Vlasis, met on Friday 23 February 2024 in Istanbul the Working Group on the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.

Amendments to the Rules of Procedure were discussed and voted on and decisions were taken to improve the orderly operation of the Assembly.

Afterwards, the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Assembly was held, during which the decisions of the Working Group were ratified, followed by a discussion on more specific issues, including the ongoing hostilities against Ukraine, the progress of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, plans to strengthen the Assembly's relations with other international organisations, etc.

In his intervention, Mr Vlasis pointed out, inter alia, the need for increased cooperation, the strengthening of dialogue and the creation of strong and sincere relations between the member states of the Assembly, relations that will be based on common values and respect for the rules of international law. “Reliability”, he stressed “adherence to international legality, unambiguous and consistent dedication in creating conditions of trust, stability and cooperation, have been the bedrock of our policy with all our partners and neighbors, with a view to mutually beneficial interaction and cooperation. Greece has always been and will remain a pillar of peace, security and stability in our region”.
