Meetings of Jordanian Delegation with Chair and Members of Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs and Greece–Jordan Friendship Group

The Chair, Ms Dora Bakoyannis, and Members of the Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, Mr Angelos Syrigos and Mr Dimitris Mantzos, underscored the importance of the longstanding close relations between Greece and Jordan and the two countries’ commitment to respect for international law, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and the peaceful settlement of disputes, during their meeting at the Hellenic Parliament with the head of the parliamentary delegation, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr Mazen Turki S’Aoud El Qadi, and Members of the Jordanian Parliament.
More specifically, the Chair of the Committee, describing Jordan as “a stable and reliable pillar in the wider Middle East”, stressed the need for continued support for the country so that it can continue to play its pivotal role in maintaining regional stability, despite the significant pressures facing its economy and, consequently, its society.
Referring to the 80 years of uninterrupted diplomatic relations between the two countries, which will be marked in 2027, Ms Bakoyannis expressed the hope that the visit would serve as a starting point for closer and more systematic interparliamentary, multilateral and bilateral cooperation, with the Greece–Cyprus–Jordan Trilateral Partnership serving as a key point of reference.
