Hellenic Parliament participated in 1st Inter-Parliamentary Meeting of European Parliament’s Committee on Security and Defence
The Deputy Chair of the Hellenic Parliament’s Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, Mr Dimitris Kairidis, and Committee member, MP Mr Michalis Katrinis, participated in the 1st Inter-Parliamentary Meeting of the European Parliament’s Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE ICM), held in Brussels on 3–4 December 2025. The central topic of the meeting was the future of European defence.
Representatives of national parliaments and Members of the European Parliament underlined that current challenges require the peoples of Europe to unite and strengthen their capabilities. The aim is to preserve peace on the continent, defend the shared values of freedom and democracy, and safeguard Europe as a pole of prosperity amid an increasingly intense international competition. Among those attending this important meeting were the President of the European Parliament, Ms Roberta Metsola, the Commissioner for Defence and Space, Mr Andrius Kubilius, Admiral Pierre Vandier, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (NATO), and Mr Boris Ruge, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy.
