Hellenic Parliament marks Roma and Sinti Holocaust Remembrance Day

At this year's events for the 80th anniversary of the Sinti and Roma holocaust, held, as every year, in Auschwitz, Poland, the Hellenic Parliament President Constantine Tassoulas was represented by MP and member of the Standing Committee on Social Affairs and the Special Permanent Committee on Equality, Youth and Human Rights Giorgos Stamatis, who laid a wreath at the memorial to the victims of the holocaust.
August 2 has been established since 2015 as the European Day of Remembrance honouring the victims of the Sinti and Roma holocaust.
On 2 August 1944, approximately 3,000 Sinti and Roma prisoners in the Auschwitz camp, men, women and children, we exterminated by the Nazis in the gas chambers.
