Serbia-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group on official visit to Athens

The Serbia-Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group, comprising MPs Veroljub Arsic (head of delegation), Tijana Davidovac and Ana Beloica, is on an official visit to Athens, upon invitation from the Chairman of the Greece-Serbia Friendship Group Christos Boukoros.

During their meeting the two sides confirmed the traditionally excellent bilateral relations based on a multitude of common historical, religious and cultural experiences. The conclusion of the Memoranda of Understanding and the Declaration on the establishment of a Strategic Partnership that has been signed, shape and upgrade cooperation between the two countries, and make ties even stronger.

The Chairman of the Friendship Group Christos Boukoros stressed Greece's firm orientation toward the European perspective of the Western Balkans, with the expectation that the friend country will be integrated into the European family as soon as possible.

Special reference was made by the Serbian delegation to the issue of Kosovo. The head of delegation emphasised the importance of Greek support.

The Greek delegation pointed out that Greece is one five EU member states that have not recognised Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence.

Furthermore, the contribution of parliamentary diplomacy was emphasised, especially through the Friendship Groups, with the expectation, always, that they will help further strengthen bilateral relations.
