President of Parliament meets with Ambassador of Republic of Ireland

The President of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr Nikitas Kaklamanis, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland, Mrs Ciara O’ Floinn.

“I warmly welcome to the Hellenic Parliament today the Ambassador of the friendly country of Ireland, a nation with which we share many common bonds,” said the President of the Parliament, welcoming Mrs O’ Floinn. “We have, dear Madam Ambassador, common positions and policies on several issues such as the enlargement of the European Union, migration, the environment, and shared principles regarding the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.”

“This year,” Mr Kaklamanis noted, “marks 50 years of diplomatic relations, and allow me to congratulate you on your initiative to organize the wonderful exhibition with material from the historical archives of our two Ministries of Foreign Affairs—an act that truly reflects your philhellenic sentiments.” “In this context, Madam Ambassador,” he added, “I wish to inform you, in response to your request, that the Hellenic Parliament will host this exhibition before the end of the year, as a gesture of friendship and mutual respect between our two countries.”
