Meeting of Greece-Israel Friendship Group with Tourism Minister of Israel

A delegation of the Greece-Israel Parliamentary Friendship Group consisting of its Chairman Dimitris Kairidis, its Secretary Olympia Teligioridou and members Konstantinos Karagounis and Anna Mani-Papadimitriou met with the Tourism Minister of Israel Orit Farkash-Hacoen.
Both sides expressed the wish for an Israel-Greece Friendship Group to soon be established in the Knesset so that the two countries may further strengthen inter-parliamentary relations.
The Greek MPs expressed their solidarity towards the state of Israel and noted that there must be credible talks on the basis of International Law to put an end to hostilities. They also referred to the issue of the pandemic and the very good management thereof by the authorities in Israel. During the meeting issues of energy and tourism were also discussed.
Mrs. Orit Farkash-Hacoen referred to the challenges facing Israel in this particularly tense time and thanked the Greek side for its support. She then briefed the MPs in detail on the recent signing of a five-year strategic partnership between the ministries of tourism of the two countries which aims to strengthen the tourism industry and related sectors through greater tourist arrivals, exchange of know-how and more investments. She also referred to the prospect of further energy cooperation.
Summing up, the Chairman of the Greece-Israel Friendship Group Dimitris Kairidis expressed the wish to further expand the already friendly and constructive relations between the two countries, which share historical ties, common interests and a common future.
