Participation of parliamentary delegation in Inter-parliamentary Conference on European Economic Governance

The two-day proceedings of the Inter-parliamentary Conference on European Economic Governance concluded yesterday, 24 February, at the European Parliament in Brussels, with the participation of a large number of national parliamentarians and Members of the European Parliament. The Hellenic Parliament was represented by the Chairs of the Standing Committees on Social Affairs and on Economic Affairs, Mr Georgios Stylianos and Mr Athanasios Kavvadas, as well as Members of Parliament Mr Ioannis Paschalidis, Mr Pavlos Christidis and Mr Nikolaos Pappas.

The Conference was co-organised, within the framework of the European Parliamentary Week 2026, by the European Parliament and the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, which holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU during the current semester.

Opening remarks were delivered by the President of the European Parliament, Ms Roberta Metsola, and the President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Ms Annita Demetriou. Participants in the proceedings also included the President of the Jacques Delors Institute and former Prime Minister of Italy, Enrico Letta—who authored the report on the future of the Single Market titled “Much More than a Market”—as well as Nobel Prize–winning economist Professor Christopher Pissarides.
