Parliament briefed on priorities of Danish Presidency of EU Council
The Danish Ambassador to Greece, Mr Per Fabricius Andersen, briefed the members of the Special Standing Committee on European Affairs and the Standing Committee on Defence and Foreign Affairs on the priorities of the Danish Presidency of the EU Council, within the framework of the institutionalised exchange of views with the diplomatic representatives of the country assuming the rotating Presidency of the EU Council.
The First Vice-President of the Parliament and Chair of the Committee on European Affairs, Mr Ioannis Plakiotakis, in his introductory speech, noted that Denmark is taking over the EU Presidency at a particularly critical juncture, in light of the unprecedented challenges and geopolitical pressure the EU is called upon to manage, not only due to Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, but also as a result of the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East.
