"Human Values" Award presented by Hellenic Parliament to "Neighbours" film at 24th Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People
The Hellenic Parliament Human Values Award was awarded to the film "Neighbours" in the framework of the international competition programme of the 24th Olympia Film Festival for Children and Young People.
Directed by Kurdish director Mano Khalil, the film approaches authoritarianism, nationalism and intolerance with subtle humor and irony, while standing up for friendship and solidarity with childlike innocence and optimism.
In his greeting, the President of the Parliament Constantine Tassoulas commented on the festival as "consistently serving its noble and ambitious aspirations, which include the promotion of important films of its kind from around the world, the international appeal of its work, the participation of our country’s youth in the creative process, but also reaching out to children and young people with limited access to art ".
Mr. Tassoulas stressed that "the Hellenic Parliament supports the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People in achieving its cultural and educational goals and awards one of the feature films of the competition section with the Human Values Award, on the basis of artistic and thematic criteria", also expressing his joy because" these criteria identify with the principles that permeate the festival itself ".
The film was selected by a three-member committee of the Parliament’s Television Station.
The award was presented by Mrs. Dionysia-Theodora Zisimou-Avgerinopoulou, MP (Constituency of Ilia).
