Chairman of Greece-Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group meets with Ambassador of Germany in Athens

The Chairman of the Greece–Germany Parliamentary Friendship Group Theodoros Roussopoulos met today at the Hellenic Parliament with the Ambassador of Germany in Greece Ernst Wolfgang Reichel.

During the meeting the close friendly relations between the two countries were confirmed, which are developing in many important sectors. Mr. Roussopoulos pointed out the contribution of the Greek community in Germany to the cooperation and the mutual understanding between the two peoples, as well as the significant and cohesive role of Germany for the common European vision. Furthermore, he referred to the support Greece receives from its European partners on important political issues, such as the refugee issue and Turkey’s provocations. In particular, on Turkey’s aggressiveness, he stressed that it is not a Greece–Turkey issue but a Europe–Turkey issue and underlined that problems should always be resolved in accordance with International Law. 

The German Ambassador referred, inter alia, to the scheduled elections in Germany in the autumn of 2021 and to the rescheduling of parliamentary missions, as soon as health condition allows.
