Greece-US Parliamentary Friendship Group expresses sympathy for disasters in Florida - Visit of associates of members of US Congress at Hellenic Parliament

The Deputy Chair of the Greece-US Friendship Group Mr Ioannis Tragakis and member Mrs Milena Apostolaki, expressed their sympathy for the devastation suffered in the State of Florida, caused by the recent hurricane, to the associates of members of the US Congress who visited the Hellenic Parliament today.

In his remarks, Mr Tragakis noted the significant upturn in our bilateral relations, recalling the visit of the Greek Prime Minister to Washington as a milestone in their upgrading.  At the same time, he underlined the prospects for further deepening, as the promotion of common interests is outlined by the multi-sectoral cooperation on regional, defence, environmental, energy and investment issues, in conjunction with the responsible Greek stance on issues of International Law. In particular, the crucial importance of the functioning of the new South-North energy axis was noted for the Greek contribution to the decoupling of Europe from Russian natural gas. The Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Friendship Group also underlined the strategic importance of the presence of the Greek diaspora as a bridge of friendship and exchange between the two peoples and its activity in many fields, with a prominent contribution to the political life of the country.
