Official visit of Hellenic Parliament delegation to Tirana

Following an official invitation by the President of the Albanian Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, also in charge of all parliamentary Friendship Groups of Albania, a Hellenic Parliament delegation, consisting of the Chairman of the Greece-Albania Friendship Parliamentary Group Vasilios Yogiakas, the Deputy Chairwoman Maria-Alexandra Kefala and the member of the Friendship Group Konstantinos Barkas, visited Tirana, from July 4 to 7. During the visit, the Greek MPs met with the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament Lindita Nikolla, the President of the Democratic Party Enkeledj Alibeaj, the President of the Albania-Greece Friendship Group Anila Denaj and the Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj.

They also called on the Head of the Orthodox Church of Albania, Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and all Albania, Anastasios.

The Ambassador of Greece to Albania, Sofia Filippidou, participated in all the meetings.

The two sides discussed a variety of topics mostly relating to the further strengthening of bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in areas such as economy and tourism, as well as issues concerning the Greek minority in Albania and the Albanian diaspora in Greece, Albania’s EU accession prospect and current issues of concern, such as the energy crisis and its impact.
